Deep blues, soft pinks, and pale butter yellow drift across a field of fractured geometry in this one-of-a-kind mixed media piece inspired by Lassen Volcanic National Park in Northern California. It began as an original photograph I took of Bumpass Hell in August, 2023. Through a geometric design and layering process in Photoshop, I used layer blending techniques to transform the image into an illustration, building the pattern from overlapping, angular shapes that echo the volcanic landscape.
The illustration is printed on high quality archival watercolor paper, then finished with hand-drawn black scribble lines layered over the top. The loose black linework adds energy and movement, capturing the spirit of the landscape rather than a literal view of it. This is a one-of-one custom art piece completed in 2026
This piece is shipped unmatted and unframed. Any mock-ups shown are for demonstration purposes only.
