Glacial water carves a narrow, dramatic gorge through ancient limestone in this one-of-a-kind mixed media piece inspired by Marble Canyon in Kootenay National Park, British Columbia. It began as an original photograph I took on location in August 2023. Through a geometric design and layering process in Photoshop, I transformed the image into an illustration, breaking the canyon walls and rushing water into fractured, angular shapes that echo the depth and movement of this stunning place.
The illustration is printed on high quality archival watercolor paper, then layered by hand with Copic Sketch markers in an energetic scribble pattern. I deliberately color outside the lines to capture the raw energy of the landscape rather than a literal view of it. This is a unique one of one custom art piece completed in 2026.
